Could you benefit from working with a kink-friendly therapist?
Most kinksters are aware of the healing potential of consensual, compassionate BDSM. Kink can be therapeutic, but it is no substitute for therapy.
Quality dominatrices are good communicators, compassionate, and intuitive. They care about the mental health of their submissives. However, most are not qualified to provide therapy, and for those who are, offering therapy to their submissives is an ethical breach.
If you are serious about personal growth, a kink-positive therapist will be able to assist you on your path. Many therapists claim to be sex-positive but often do not understand the nuances of the BDSM lifestyle. Lingering prejudices can affect the therapy process, leading to you feeling uncomfortable with sharing kink-related information with your therapist. This disconnect can interfere with your progress toward your therapeutic goals.
It can be challenging to find a therapist who is genuinely kink, queer, and sex work friendly. Sometimes, I’m asked for referrals.
